Behind The Scene...

Cymantha Jewel Channey-White
is one of five siblings blessed to the union of Rev. Luther D. Channey, Jr. and Sallie L. Channey.  She is chronologically nestled between two older brothers and two younger brothers, which she feels gives her some what of a professional insight on gender-sibling relations.  She is married and has one son, which she and her husband were gifted through adoption in 2008.  She has always had some dealings with the training, teaching, and/or upbringing of children since she was the age of twelve years old.  Her official journey towards formal education in the field of Early Childhood Development did not really begin until her son was enrolled in Head Start.

Cymantha and her husband began caring for their son at the age of 3 months.  His physical condition was a series of medical and emotional diagnosis--Gastroesophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD), Sensory Processing Disorder (Sensory Integration Dysfunction), Asthma, Chronic Eczema, and Failure To Thrive.  The first three years of their son's life was a barrage of doctor's appointments, therapies, evaluations, and many sleepless nights.  Since her involvement with various Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists, and Educators, Cymantha developed a growing passion to know more about the development of her son.  Her passion has led her to recon with the life-long love she has for learning.  Her learning now focuses on education, and she envisions herself using her education to bring about positive changes as it relates to Public Policy and Procedures that affect the educational, social, and emotional development of her son and other children throughout the world.
